Two years after her sell-out Budapest debut, Lebanon-born Yasmine Hamdan, the iconic diva of Near Eastern sounds, returns to the stage of the A38 Ship. The muse of Jim Jarmusch and the former singer of Soap Kills will sing the songs of her most recent album, Al Jamílat. She will also have a guest, Antonia Vai.
We had to wait for four years for Al Jamílat: following ceaseless touring around the world, heightened media attention and a cameo appearance in Only Lovers Left Alive, Yasmine needed some time to devote to her own songs.
Luke Smith (Foals, Depeche Mode, Lily Allen) and Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Carl Barät) were collaborating on the album, which features such guests as Shahzad Ismaily (Lou Reed, John Zorn, Marc Ribot) and Steve Shelley from the Sonic Youth.
